How to survive living with the in-laws

As Muslims family is very important to us. Allah commands us to take care of our parents when they are old and you have to do the impossible to please them. As a wife living with my husbands family that can be a very challenging task even if they are the nicest kindest people in the world. It can be very tricky to know whether they are content with what you are doing for them whether it’s cooking or cleaning, etc. I know as a wife it’s not my duty or my obligation to take care of my in-laws but I am sure any wife would do it for the sake and love of her husband. From my one year and half experience I have learned a few things that make life a lot easier when living with the in-laws.

1. Make a schedule for chores

Depending on how big the family is it’s a good idea to know who should do what each day.

2. Have your own bathroom

This will make life a whole lot easier for you and them. This way you will avoid fighting over who will go in first in the morning and avoid embarrassment when you’re coming out of the shower with your husband.

3. Take their opinion

Do not assume that every one will be okay with the way you rearrange the living room. Always take their opinion when doing something that will concern everyone. Don’t try to be the boss of them.

4. Ignore it

Learn how to ignore their little mistakes and the little things that they do that annoy you. Don’t make a big deal out of it, just forget it.

Hezy ya nawa3em is a belly dancing competition airing on LBC Lebanese channel. The competition started with 12 girls and the winner gets 500,000 US Dollars. I believe it is the Arabic version of “so you think you can dance”. They call it “art” but its not. I wonder what kind of art it is. Is it the kind that awakens every young mans sexual senses, or the kind that makes a woman’s body so cheap and loses all her self respect? Where is the art in a woman jumping up and down and bending left to right in a very provocative and seductive way?

Its amazing how through out the segments they have about each girl, the girls don’t stop talking about their families and how they miss them and cant wait to see them again making it seem as if the parents are totally okay with the fact that their daughter is belly dancing half naked in front of the whole world.

When will we (Arabs) ever stop blindly coping western TV shows. It is really a shame to even produce a show like that. Don’t they know the amount of damage they are doing to our umma and our youth? Imagine how many poor people they could have fed with that amount of money, or how many needy families they could have helped with the amount it cost to produce such a show.

What a complete waste of money and time.

May Allah bestow his blessing upon us and fill this year with love, kindness, mercy and compassion.

I spent my new years eve at home as usual. My husband promised me that he will take me out but unfortunately he was busy with work. So I spent the night with my in-laws just flipping through the channels. It was amazing how a lot of the channels, especially the Lebanese ones, all they could talk about is horse scopes. It is very sad how so many people believe in these things and even worse wait for them to happen. I wish people will realize that its all lies.

All I can do is make Dua’a for these people, may Allah guide them to the right path

Hi everybody!!

Welcome to my blog. Ispired by unique muslimah’s blog and many other wonderful islamic blogs out there I decided to create my own blog. I will write about many issues and problems that muslim woman all over the world deal with everyday and anything else that comes to my mind.
